Ronco del Gnemiz

Serena Palazzolo and her husband Christian Patat run this great estate together. The estate has since long been recognised for its mineral driven wines made from Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Friulano, but their reds are not to be discarded. Fans of high end Italian wines will doubtlessly find lots of pleasure here.

Ronco del Gnemiz is located in the small village San Giovanni al Natisone, located between Udine and Gorizia, not far from the Slovenian border. The appellation is Colli Orientali del Friuli, which ranks as the prime spot i Friuli for quality wines.

Ronco del Gnemiz is an estate where the vineyards mean everything. The hands off approach in the cellar allows their white wines to shine brightly with pure fruit flavours and distinct minerality, while reds rely on their age worthy structure.

White wines are fermented and aged in French oak barrels, mostly Barriques. Malolactic fermentation is blocked, in order to create a racy profile. Red wines are fermented in tank and aged in French Barriques. The use of sulphites are limited and needless to say only natural yeast is used here.
